Mike was born and raised  in Albuquerque, NM until 6th grade when his parents moved the family to Bosque Farms, NM.  He had very little exposure to Jesus but was introduced to new age spirituality at a young age by a family friend. By the time he was in High School he was drinking alcohol daily, ditching school and experimenting with marijuana and mushrooms. Once he got to college he was a drug addicted, violent, angry, guy who hated Jesus, the Bible, Christians, and Christianity. Mike had tried New Age spirituality, Buddhism, Wicca Witchcraft and other forms of religion and spirituality in his search for answers and it was in that time that Jesus met him at an Easter outreach service in 2000 in Belen NM put on by Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley.  Mike gave his life to Christ that day and the Lord spent the next several years healing him and renewing his mind. In September 2009 he answered the Lord's call to Pastor Calvary Chapel Estancia Valley where he stayed committed to passionately teaching the Bible and reaching the lost for Christ.

Mike and his family are humbled and grateful to have had the wonderful privilege of serving the precious people of Calvary Chapel Estancia Valley for 16 years before being called to hand over the responsibility and privilege of the role of Senior Pastor to his longtime Assistant Pastor Cris Reynaga in September 2025. Mike and his family are now joyfully serving the people of Calvary Chapel Duke City in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is serving in the role  of Senior Pastor having succeeded the role from Gary Cowan the founding Pastor.
